Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I bring my family?
Answer: Coastal Life Outfitters is family friendly. There are however some limitations. We are here to teach and guide fishermen, fisherwomen and fisherchildren. Non fishing children need to be supervised to keep them safe from a variety of things. If driving out on Fort Fisher, I can only accomodate 4 people plus me, in my truck. Should you decide to drive out on Fort Fisher or in situations where we walk out to the beach use the beach cart, others may join you but I can only provide service to the specific people signed up for your booking. Also, I provide water and snacks for the chatered group. Additionally, there will be absolutely no swimming or playing in the water where we are fishing. Please see the Bringing Childern and Safety First pages.
2. Can we bring alcohol?
Answer: We can discuss this during the booking process to go over restrictions and whats is and isnt allowed
3. Do I need a fishing license.
Answer: Yes, you will need a North Carolina Coastal Fishing License. These can be purchased online and printed. Please purchase/print your license prior to the trip. 10 Day and Annual Licenses are available for purchase. CLICK HERE for the link to purchase your license and for additional information.
4. Can we drive on the beach?
Answer: Yes. If you choose Fort Fisher as your destination and you have a suitable 4 wheel drive vehicle, you can drive to our fishing spots. You will however need to purchase a pass from the Ranger's Office at Ft Fisher. CLICK HERE for additional information regarding beach passes. You will also need to air your tires down to 19 lbs. This allows you rtires to float on the sand and reduce the risk of getting stuck. It is also easier on your transmission. There are varying positions on air down, but I require it. I keep the number to a local towing compay that specializes in helping people on the beach handy, just in case. If you air down and srive responsibly, we shouldnt have any problems. There are location where you can reinflate your tires at several gas stations in Kure Beach and Carolina Beach. You can also bring a portable compressor.
Note: Due to crowded conditions and the lack of fishable beach, I currently do not take charters to Freeman Park.
5. What is your cancellation policy?
Answer: You can cancel up to 3 day before your booked date. We will fish unlessthe beachjes are closed or the conditions are unsafe or unfishable. Often a little wind and chop on the eater create ideal conditions for good fishing. I will keep a close watch on the weather and beach conditions. Should the need arise, I will contact you in advance. Should something happen that we need to cancel, your deposit will be refunded.
What aboout restrooms?
There are public restroom availble at all of my fishing locations. I have contingencies for emergencies at Ft. Fisher (privacy tent and portable toilet...aka a 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat and lined with trash bags).
